What a day, one set of oars short, only a few spare pins and 49 rowers!
Thanks to Jeff from Mevagissy and Mark or perhaps it was Steve pretending to be Mark, possibly from Bridort or perhaps Caradon! For helping out in our SV C crew.
Thanks to Christine who agreed to row just 36 hours before the race.
Thanks to all our rowers/cox’s for jumping into crews at a moments notice, because the expected rower/cox was still on the water.
Thanks to all the parents for bringing the u14 crew who made themselves, their parents and the club proud, by winning 4th place in U14. For many this was their first race.
Great to have junior representation at HRGC once more.
JC was a star, in charge of coxing and bringing home 2 X 1st, 3 x 2nd and 2 very worthy 4th’s across the heats and in finals.
Also spot on for ensuring justice was done when it got messy on the water!
So many crew changes on the day, I can't list them
But its worth mentioning the finalists
Mixed Super Vets A - 5th overall
Mixed A - 4th overall
Vets A only just missed getting into final and sadly watched boats they had beaten, who then won in repechage, go on to be well placed in the final.
Mixed Vets A - 3rd place in Semi Final.
What other sport embraces at one event 12 - 70+ year olds! I hasten to add HRGC representation was 14 - 60+ year olds I think!
Thanks to Steve towing, leaving at 5.15 am, getting home sometime after 9pm, and then rowed at 7.30 the next morning!
Another great day out for HRGC, the sun shone and we were in the finals. 4th mixed open, 5th Supervets, and 4th U14.
