CPGA Under 16 Championship, Newquay

Newquay Rowing Club is pleased to invite you to the CPGA Under 16 Championship which will
take place on Saturday 15th July 2023.
The Under 16 Championship will again take place as a separate event to the senior championships,
and will follow a repechage format, to ensure that each crew is able to race at least twice.
Please note that as this is a CPGA championship event, all rowers will require Junior GigRower
Membership (free of charge) - please direct the parents of your rowers to register via
cpga.justgo.com. Coxswains will also require GigRower membership to take part.
There will be prizes for:
● Junior Under 16 Champions
● All main finalists
● Highest placed Mixed Crew
● Highest placed All-Girl Crew
● Plate Race Champions

Presentations will take place shortly after the final.

Previous winners please return the cup/shield presented last championships, prior to the

event.

The coxswains meeting will be at 9:30am, upstairs in the Rowing Club and a register of clubs
attending will be taken. It is essential that at least one representative from your club (coxswains only)
attends this meeting as it gives you important information about racing rules and safety.
Depending on the number of crews entered, there will be a maximum of 6 gigs in each Heat. Heats and
Berths will be drawn and published on the CPGA website/emailed to individual clubs. The gigs are
loaned to us in good faith, so coxswains should have a good level of competence (no novice
coxswains please). We will contact individual clubs regarding the loan of gigs.

Hot and cold food plus beverages will be available from the gig shed. We are being as plastic free as
possible, a tap will be available to refill water bottles, and we would also like to remind everyone to clear
all rubbish and place it in the bins provided.
